Kitchen Refacing Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between refacing and refinishing?
Refacing is using the existing boxes, and replacing the doors, drawer fronts and moldings brand new, and veneering all exposed areas of the box to match the new door color. With refacing you can also modify or add on to the existing kitchen layout. Refinishing is using the existing boxes, doors, drawer fronts and moldings and sanding, priming and painting them.
What happens to my countertops?
If you have existing countertops that you do not plan to change, they are safe! As we are not replacing your boxes, they are not at risk. While we are on site working we always cover your surfaces to protect them. If you are replacing your countertops, that needs to be done before the refacing or refinishing starts. To have your countertops done before allows us to cover the shims needed for levelling, and also to adjust the doors and drawer fronts to ensure everything opens and closes properly.
